REAR DOOR REASSEMBLY

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for both the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure described below is for the RH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. APPLY BODY GREASE

  2. INSTALL REAR DOOR WEATHERSTRIP


    1. A01VIMR

      Engage the 29 clips and install the rear door weatherstrip.

    2. Install the 2 clips.

  3. INSTALL REAR DOOR CHECK ASSEMBLY


    1. Apply MP grease to the sliding areas of the rear door check assembly.

    2. A01VIGH

      Install the rear door check assembly onto the door panel with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      5.5 N*m  { 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf }

    3. Apply adhesive to the threads of the bolt.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent

    4. Install the front door check assembly onto the body panel with the bolt.

      Torque:
      30 N*m  { 306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf }

  4. INSTALL REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Apply MP grease to the sliding areas of the rear door outside handle frame sub-assembly.

      *1 Grommet

      Slide the rear door outside handle frame sub-assembly to install it.

    3. Engage the grommet and 2 claws.

    4. A01VLMZ

      Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, install the rear door outside handle frame sub-assembly with the screw.

      Torque:
      4.0 N*m  { 41 kgf*cm, 35 in.*lbf }

  5. INSTALL REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE REAR PAD


    1. A01VEZ2

      Engage the 2 claws and install the rear door outside handle rear pad.

  6. INSTALL REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE FRONT PAD


    1. A01VFIP

      Engage the 3 claws and install the rear door outside handle front pad.

  7. INSTALL REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE ASSEMBLY


    1. A01VDUC

      Pushing the rear door outside handle assembly in the direction of the arrow mark shown in the illustration, install the rear door outside handle assembly.

  8. INSTALL REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE COVER


    1. A01VM4I

      Engage the 2 claws and temporarily install the rear door outside handle cover.

    2. A01VDUA

      Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, install the rear door outside handle cover.

      Torque:
      4.0 N*m  { 41 kgf*cm, 35 in.*lbf }

  9. INSTALL REAR DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY

  10. INSTALL REAR DOOR OUTSIDE MOULDING (w/ Outside Moulding)

  11. INSTALL NO. 4 BLACK OUT TAPE (for LED Type Stop Light)

  12. INSTALL NO. 2 BLACK OUT TAPE

  13. INSTALL REAR DOOR GLASS OUTER WEATHERSTRIP ASSEMBLY

  14. INSTALL REAR DOOR GLASS RUN


    1. A01VEW9

      Engage the 2 guides and install the rear door glass run.

    2. Install the clip.

  15. INSTALL REAR DOOR WINDOW REGULATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Power Window)


    1. Apply MP grease to the sliding parts of the rear door window regulator sub-assembly.

      *1 Temporary Bolt

      Install the temporary bolt.

    3. Insert the rear door window regulator sub-assembly into the door panel. Use the temporary bolt to hang the rear door window regulator sub-assembly on the door panel.

    4. Tighten the 3 bolts and the temporary bolt in the order shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      8.0 N*m  { 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf }

    5. Connect the connector.

  16. INSTALL REAR DOOR WINDOW REGULATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o Power Window)


    1. A01VFHOE03

      Tighten the 3 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      8.0 N*m  { 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf }

  17. INSTALL REAR DOOR GLASS CHANNEL FILLER


    1. Apply soapy water to a new rear door glass channel filler.

      Install a new rear door glass channel filler as shown in the illustration.

  18. INSTALL REAR DOOR GLASS CHANNEL SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Apply soapy water to the rear door glass channel sub-assembly.

      Using a plastic-faced hammer, tap the rear door glass channel sub-assembly onto the rear door glass sub-assembly to install the glass channel sub-assembly.

      Note


      • Be careful not to damage the rear door glass sub-assembly or rear door glass channel sub-assembly.

      • Make sure the position of the rear door glass channel filler does not change.

  19. INSTALL REAR DOOR GLASS SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Insert the rear door glass sub-assembly into the rear door panel along the rear door glass run as indicated by the arrows in the order shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Do not damage the rear door glass sub-assembly.

    2. A01VDJO

      Slide the lower section of the rear door glass sub-assembly as indicated by the arrow as shown in the illustration.

  20. INSTALL REAR DOOR WINDOW DIVISION BAR SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A01VFYB

      Engage the rear door window division bar sub-assembly to the rear door glass run.

    2. Install the rear door window division bar sub-assembly with the 3 bolts and the nut.

      Torque:
      6.2 N*m  { 63 kgf*cm, 55 in.*lbf }

  21. INSTALL REAR DOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER


    1. Apply butyl tape to the rear door panel.

    2. Pass the rear door lock remote control cable assembly, rear door inside locking cable assembly and each connector through a new rear door service hole cover.

      Install a new rear door service hole cover according to the reference points on the rear door panel.

      Tech Tips

      Securely install the rear door service hole cover taking care to prevent wrinkles.

  22. INSTALL REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY

  23. INSTALL REAR DOOR GLASS INNER WEATHERSTRIP

      Engage the 7 claws and install the rear door glass inner weatherstrip as shown in the illustration.

  24. INSTALL REAR DOOR INSIDE HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Engage the 4 guides and install the rear door inside handle sub-assembly.

  25. INSTALL REAR DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY

      *2 Rear Door Inside Locking Cable Assembly

      Connect the rear door lock remote control cable assembly and the rear door inside locking cable assembly to the rear door inside handle sub-assembly.

      Engage the 7 clips and install the rear door trim board sub-assembly.

    3. A01VESR

      Install the 3 screws.

    4. A01VLF2

      Engage the claw and close the cover.

  26. INSTALL REAR DOOR ARMREST BASE UPPER PANEL (w/ Power Window)


    1. Connect the connector.

    2. A01VDVJ

      Engage the 9 claws and the 3 guides and install the rear door armrest base upper panel.

  27. INSTALL REAR DOOR ARMREST BASE UPPER PANEL (w/o Power Window)


    1. A01VL79

      Engage the 5 claws and the 2 guides and install the rear door armrest base upper panel.

  28. INSTALL REAR DOOR WINDOW REGULATOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY (w/o Power Window)

      Install the window regulator handle plate.

    2. Open the all windows.

      Install the rear door window regulator handle assembly with the clip at the angle shown in the illustration.

  29. INSTALL REAR DOOR FRAME GARNISH


    1. A01VKKW

      Engage the guide.

    2. Engage the 2 clips and the claw and install the rear door frame garnish.

  30. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Torque:
    5.4 N*m  { 55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf }

  31. INSPECT POWER WINDOW OPERATION (w/ Power Window)
