BACK DOOR GLASS REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE REAR SPOILER SUB-ASSEMBLY (except GRMN)

  2. REMOVE REAR SPOILER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for GRMN)

  3. REMOVE BACK DOOR OUTSIDE GARNISH SUB-ASSEMBLY

  4. REMOVE REAR WIPER ARM HEAD CAP

  5. REMOVE REAR WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY

  6. REMOVE REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY

  7. REMOVE REAR WIPER MOTOR GROMMET

    Click here

  8. REMOVE NO. 2 BACK DOOR PANEL PROTECTOR

    Click here

  9. REMOVE NO. 1 BACK DOOR PANEL PROTECTOR

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the No. 2 back door panel protector.

  10. REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS


    1. B004689C01
      B0046KM Protective Tape

      Apply protective tape to the area around the installation position of the back door glass on the back door panel to prevent it from being scratched.

    2. B0047F6C02
      *a Matchmark

      Place matchmarks on the back door glass and back door panel at the locations indicated in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Matchmarks are not necessary if the back door glass is not going to be reused.

    3. B00462G

      Disconnect the 2 connectors.

    4. B0046P8C03
      *1 Back Window Glass Clip RH
      *2 Back Window Glass Clip LH
      *a Piano Wire

      Insert a piano wire at the locations as shown in the illustration.

    5. Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects that can serve as handles.

    6. Cut the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the back door glass.

      Note


      • When separating the back door glass, take care not to damage the paint or interior and exterior ornaments.

      • When cutting the adhesive, take care not to damage the connectors on the back door glass.

      • Do not pull the piano wire in a vertical direction, but pull it in a horizontal direction.

    7. B004782

      Using suction cups, disengage the back window glass clip RH and back window glass clip LH and remove the back door glass.

      Note


      • To prevent the back door glass from falling when performing this operation, be sure to hold the back door glass using suction cups.

      • Be careful not to drop the back door glass.

      • Leave as much adhesive on the back door panel as possible when removing the back door glass.

  11. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS ADHESIVE DAM


    1. When reusing the back door glass:


      1. B0047ZVC02
        *a Back Side of Back Door Glass

        Using a scraper, remove the back window glass adhesive dam.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back door glass.

        • Be sure to replace the back window glass adhesive dam with a new one.

  12. REMOVE BACK WINDOW LOWER MOULDING


    1. When reusing the back door glass:

        *a Back Side of Back Door Glass

        Using a scraper, remove the back window lower moulding.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back door glass.

        • Be sure to replace the back window lower moulding.

  13. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS CLIP LH


    1. When reusing the back door glass:


      1. B0046DTC01
        *a Back Side of Back Door Glass
        B0046KM Adhesive Tape

        Apply adhesive tape to the glass at the edges of the back window glass clip as shown in the illustration to mark the installation position of the back window glass clip.

        Tech Tips

        Because the adhesive tape will be used to position the back window glass clip during installation, do not remove the adhesive tape.

      2. Using a scraper, remove the back window glass clip LH.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back door glass.

        • Be sure to replace the back window glass clip LH with a new one.

  14. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS CLIP RH


    1. When reusing the back door glass:


      1. B0047NXC02
        *a Back Side of Back Door Glass
        B0046KM Adhesive Tape

        Apply adhesive tape to the glass at the edges of the back window glass clip as shown in the illustration to mark the installation position of the back window glass clip.

        Tech Tips

        Because the adhesive tape will be used to position the back window glass clip during installation, do not remove the adhesive tape.

      2. Using a scraper, remove the back window glass clip RH.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back door glass.

        • Be sure to replace the back window glass clip RH with a new one.
