POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The power window control system controls the power window UP/DOWN function using the power window regulator motor. The main controls of this system are the power window regulator master switch, which is built into the driver door, and the power window regulator switches, which are built into the front passenger door and rear doors.
Pressing the power window regulator switch or either of the power window switches on the power window regulator master switch transmits an UP/DOWN signal to the corresponding power window regulator motor.
An ECU is built into the front power window regulator motor (driver side).
FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS
The power window control system consists of the following components:
| Component | Outline |
|---|---|
| Power window regulator master switch assembly |
|
| Power window regulator switch assembly |
|
| Front door window regulator assembly (driver side) | Uses Hall IC in regulator motor with ECU to detect window position and jamming. |
| Front door window regulator assembly (front passenger side) | Receives power window switch signals and activates motor to change window position. |
| Rear door window regulator assembly LH or RH* | Receives power window switch signals and activates motor to change window position. |
*: w/ Rear Power Window
SYSTEM FUNCTION
The power window control system has the following functions:
| Function | Outline |
|---|---|
| Manual UP/DOWN function | Function that raises the window while the power window switch is pulled halfway (driver side) or full (except driver side) up and lowers the window while it is pushed halfway (driver side) or full (except driver side) down. The window stops when the switch is released. |
| AUTO UP/DOWN function | Function that enables the driver door window to be fully opened or closed by one full push or pull of the power window regulator master regulator switch. |
| Remote control function | Function that allows the power window regulator master switch to control MANUAL UP/DOWN operations of the front passenger and rear power windows. |
| Window lock function |
|
| Key-off operation function |
Tech Tips Even if the driver door or passenger door is opened during AUTO operation while the key-off operation function is on, the window will continue operating. |
| Jam protection function |
|
| Diagnosis |
|
| Fail-safe | If the pulse sensor(s) (Hall IC(s)) in the power window regulator motor (driver side) malfunctions, the power window AUTO UP/DOWN function is disabled. |
