SPIRAL CABLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

    Note


    • Do not remove the steering sensor from the spiral cable sub-assembly (w/ VSC).

    • If there is a malfunction in the steering sensor, replace the spiral cable sub-assembly with steering sensor (w/ VSC).


    1. If there are any defects as mentioned below, replace the spiral cable sub-assembly with a new one:


      • Scratches, cracks, dents or chips on the connector or the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Inspect the spiral cable sub-assembly.


      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Note

        To avoid breaking the spiral cable sub-assembly, do not turn the spiral cable sub-assembly more than necessary.

        		 Center Below 1 Ω
        2.5 rotations to the left
        2.5 rotations to the right

        		 Center Below 1 Ω

        A-3 - C-10

        (SFTD)

        		 Center Below 1 Ω
        2.5 rotations to the left
        2.5 rotations to the right

        A-6 - C-2

        (ECC)

        		 Center Below 1 Ω
        2.5 rotations to the left
        2.5 rotations to the right

        A-8 - C-4

        (EAU)

        		 Center Below 1 Ω
        2.5 rotations to the left
        2.5 rotations to the right

        		 Center Below 1 Ω
        2.5 rotations to the left
        2.5 rotations to the right

        		 Center Below 1 Ω

        If the value is not within the specified range, replace the spiral cable sub-assembly.
