ENGINE IMMOBILISER SYSTEM(w/ Entry and Start System) PRECAUTION

  1. CAUTION REGARDING INTERFERENCE WITH ELECTRONIC DEVICES

    CAUTION:

    • People with implantable cardiac pacemakers, cardiac resynchronization therapy-pacemakers or implantable cardioverter defibrillators should maintain a reasonable distance between themselves and the entry and start system antennas. The radio waves may affect the operation of such devices. If necessary, the entry function can be disabled. Ask your dealer for details, such as the frequency of radio waves and timing of the emitted radio waves. Then, consult your doctor to see if you should disable the entry function.

    • User of any electrical medical device other than implantable cardiac pacemakers, cardiac resynchronization therapy-pacemakers or implantable cardioverter defibrillators should consult the manufacturer of the device for information about its operation under the influence of radio waves. Radio waves could have unexpected effects on the operation of such medical devices.

    • Ask your dealer for details for disabling the entry function.

  2. PRECAUTIONS WHEN USING GTS

    1. When using the GTS with the engine switch off, connect the GTS to the DLC3 and turn a courtesy light switch on and off at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less until communication between the GTS and the vehicle begins. Then select Model Code "KEY REGIST" under manual mode and enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Entry&Start(CAN). While using the GTS, periodically turn a courtesy light switch on and off at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less to maintain communication between the GTS and the vehicle.

  3. PRECAUTION FOR REGISTRATION

    1. If replacing any of the following parts, refer to the Service Bulletin.

      1. Certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly)

      2. ID code box (immobiliser code ECU)

      3. Steering lock actuator assembly (steering lock ECU)

      4. ECM

      5. Electrical key transmitter sub-assembly

  4. PRECAUTIONS FOR BATTERY

    1. Immediately after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery cable, the entry unlock function may not operate. If this occurs, the entry unlock function can be restored by performing a wireless door lock and unlock operation.

    2. After disconnecting and reconnecting the battery cable, the engine may not start on the first attempt. If this occurs, turn the engine switch off. The engine will start normally from the second time onward.

    3. The vehicle continually records the power source mode. When the battery cable is disconnected and reconnected, the power source mode returns to the mode it was in before the battery cable was disconnected. Always turn the engine switch off before disconnecting the battery cable.

      Note

If the vehicle battery is fully depleted and the previous power source mode is unknown, be extremely careful when reconnecting the battery cable.
