DESCRIPTION

There may be an open circuit in one of the bus 2 main lines and/or a central gateway ECU (network gateway ECU) branch line when the resistance between terminals 18 (CA4H) and 17 (CA4L) of the central gateway ECU (network gateway ECU) is 70 Ω or higher.

Symptom Trouble Area
Resistance between terminals 18 (CA4H) and 17 (CA4L) of central gateway ECU (network gateway ECU) is 70 Ω or higher.
  • Central gateway ECU (network gateway ECU) branch line or connector

  • CAN main bus line or connector

  • ECM

  • Combination meter assembly

  • No. 1 junction connector

  • No. 2 junction connector

This malfunction is not related to the lines of a bus 2 main bus branch or to ECUs or sensors connected a bus 2 main bus branch.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note:
  • Turn the ignition switch off before measuring the resistances of the CAN main wire and the CAN branch wire.

  • After the ignition switch is turned off, check that the key reminder warning system and light reminder warning system are not in operation.

  • Before measuring the resistance, leave the vehicle as is for at least 1 minute and do not operate the ignition switch, any other switches or the doors. If doors need to be opened in order to check connectors, open the doors and leave them open.

Tip:

Operating the ignition switch, any switches or any doors triggers related ECU and sensor communication with the CAN, which causes resistance variation.

  1. Click here

CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS LINES (CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU (NETWORK GATEWAY ECU))

    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

    2. A01VJJ7E02

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F135-18 (CA4H) - F135-17 (CA4L) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω

(Central Gateway ECU (Network Gateway ECU))

      Note:

When the measured value is 133 Ω or higher and a CAN communication system DTC is output, there may be a fault besides disconnection of the central gateway ECU (network gateway ECU) branch line. For that reason, troubleshooting should be performed again from How to Proceed with Troubleshooting after repairing the trouble area (Click here).
