REAR VIEW MONITOR SYSTEM SYSTEM DESCRIPTION


  1. GENERAL


    1. To assist the driver with parking the vehicle by displaying an image of the area behind the vehicle, this system has a rear television camera assembly mounted on the back door. The system displays the image on the radio and display assembly.

  2. FUNCTION OF COMPONENTS


    1. The radio and display assembly controls the system by using information from the following components.

      Item Function
      Rear television camera assembly

      • Mounted on the back door to transmit an image of the area behind the vehicle to the radio and display assembly

      • Has a color video camera that uses a Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) and a wide-angle lens.
      Radio and display assembly

      • Receives video signals, which contain an image of the area behind the vehicle taken with the rear television camera assembly.

      • Performs control of the system by receiving the shift position signal from ECM via CAN communication.
      Park/neutral position switch assembly*1 Transmits the shift position signal to the ECM.
      Back-up light switch assembly*2 Transmits the reverse position signal to the ECM.

  3. OPERATION EXPLANATION


    1. The radio and display assembly receives the reverse signal when the ignition switch to on and the shift lever is moved to R. After receiving the reverse signal, the radio and display assembly switches to the rear view monitor system.
