FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY(for 2NR-FKE) DISASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP

   
   

   1. 

      Using needle-nose pliers, disengage the 2 claws and remove the front No. 2 axle inboard joint boot clamp as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

2. REMOVE FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP

   
   

   1. 

      Using pliers, remove the front axle inboard joint boot clamp as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

3. SEPARATE FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT

   
   

   1. Separate the front axle inboard joint boot from the front drive inboard joint assembly.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

4. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE INBOARD JOINT ASSEMBLY

   
   

   1. Remove the old grease from the front drive inboard joint assembly.

   2. 

      *a

      Matchmark

      Place matchmarks on the front drive inboard joint assembly and outboard joint shaft assembly.

      Note

      Do not cause any damage when placing the marks.

   3. Remove the front drive inboard joint from the outboard joint shaft assembly.

   4. Fix the outboard joint shaft assembly in a vise between aluminum plates.

      Note

      Do not overtighten the vise.

   5. 

      Using a snap ring expander, remove the snap ring.

   6.

      Matchmark

      Place matchmarks on the tripod joint assembly and outboard joint shaft assembly.

      Note

      Do not cause any damage when placing the marks.

   7. Using a brass bar and hammer, remove the tripod joint assembly.

      Note

      Do not tap the rollers.

   8. Remove the front No. 2 axle inboard joint boot clamp, front axle inboard joint boot and front axle inboard joint boot.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

5. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DAMPER LH (for CVT)

   
   

   1. 

      Using pliers, remove the 2 front drive shaft damper clamps as shown in the illustration.

   2. Remove the front drive shaft damper LH and 2 front drive shaft damper clamps.

6. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DAMPER RH (for Manual Transaxle)

   
   

   1. Remove the front drive shaft damper RH.

      
      

      1. 

         Using pliers, remove the front drive shaft damper clamp.

      2. Remove the front drive shaft damper RH and front drive shaft damper clamp.

7. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DAMPER RH (for CVT)

   
   

   1. Remove the front No. 2 drive shaft damper RH.

      
      

      1. 

         Using pliers, remove the 2 front drive shaft damper clamps.

      2. Remove the front No. 2 drive shaft damper RH and 2 front drive shaft damper clamps.

   2. Remove the front No. 1 drive shaft damper RH.

      
      

      1. 

         Using pliers, remove the front drive shaft damper clamp.

      2. Remove the front No. 1 drive shaft damper RH and front drive shaft damper clamp.

8. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP

   
   

   1. 

      Using pliers, remove the front No. 2 axle outboard joint boot clamp as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

9. REMOVE FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP

   
   

   1. 

      Using pliers, remove the front axle outboard joint boot clamp as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

10. REMOVE FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT

    
    

    1. Remove the front axle outboard joint boot from the outboard joint shaft assembly.

    2. Remove the old grease from the outboard joint shaft assembly.

       Tech Tips

       Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

11. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HOLE SNAP RING

    
    

    1. 

       Using a screwdriver, remove the front drive shaft hole snap ring.

       Tech Tips

       Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

12. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DUST COVER

    
    

    1. 

       Using SST and a press, remove the front drive shaft dust cover.

       SST

       09950-00020

       Note

       Do not drop the front drive inboard joint assembly.

       Tech Tips

       Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.
