CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSAXLE FLUID REPLACEMENT

PROCEDURE


  1. REPLACE CVT FLUID


    1. A01VIZK

      Lift the vehicle. [*1]

      Note

      Set the vehicle on a lift so that the vehicle is kept level when it is lifted up (make sure the tilt angle from the front to rear of the vehicle is within +/- 1°).

    2. Remove the engine under cover LH.

    3. A01VEF2

      Remove the refill plug and gasket from the continuously variable transaxle. [*2]

    4. A01VLUD

      Using a 6 mm socket hexagon wrench, remove the overflow plug and gasket from the continuously variable transaxle. [*3]

      *1 No. 1 Transmission Oil Filler Tube

      Using a 6 mm socket hexagon wrench, remove the No. 1 transmission oil filler tube from the oil pan and drain the CVT fluid. [*4]

    6. A01VEHE

      Measure the amount of fluid that you drained. [*5]

      Tech Tips

      Add the same amount of fluid in step 8.

    7. Using a 6 mm socket hexagon wrench, install the No. 1 transmission oil filler tube to the oil pan. [*6]

      Torque:
      0.8 N*m  { 8.2 kgf*cm, 7 in.*lbf }
    8. A01VLUD

      Temporarily install the gasket and the overflow plug. [*7]

      Tech Tips

      Reuse the old gasket. The plug will be removed again to adjust the fluid level.

    9. A01VL6M

      Fill fluid from the refill hole with the same amount of fluid as you drained in step 5. [*8]

      Note

      Use Toyota Genuine CVT fluid TC.

    10. A01VEF2

      Temporarily install the gasket and refill plug to avoid fluid spillage. [*9]

      Tech Tips

      Reuse the old gasket. The plug will be removed again to adjust the fluid level.

    11. Lower the vehicle.[*10]

    12. Start the engine.[*11]

    13. Slowly move shift lever from P to D, and then back to P.[*12]

    14. Allow the engine to idle for 30 seconds to warm it up.[*13]

    15. Turn the ignition switch off.[*14]

    16. Repeat steps [*1] to [*14].

    17. Repeat steps [*1] to [*10].
