SHIFT LEVER REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON COVER

      *a Protective Tape

      Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the 2 claws to remove the shift lock release button cover from the shift lever assembly.

    2. Apply the parking brake and move the shift lever to N.

  2. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY

      *1 Shift Lever Knob Cover

      Turn the shift lever knob sub-assembly counterclockwise to remove it from the shift lever assembly.

      Note

      Do not hold the shift lever knob cover when loosening the shift lever knob sub-assembly.

  3. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY

  4. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the end of the transmission control cable assembly from the shift lever assembly.

      *1 Nut
      A0049LZ Rotate approximately 180°
      A004864 Pull out

      Rotate the nut of the transmission control cable assembly approximately 180° in the direction shown in the illustration, and while holding the nut, separate the transmission control cable assembly from the shift lever assembly.

      Note

      Rotating the nut too much will damage the internal spring, and the transmission control cable assembly will not be reusable. Do not turn the nut too far.

  5. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY

      *1 Indicator Light Wire Sub-assembly Connector
      *2 Transmission Control Switch Connector
      *3 Shift Lock Control ECU Sub-assembly Connector

      Disconnect the indicator light wire sub-assembly connector, transmission control switch connector and shift lock control ECU sub-assembly connector.

    2. Disengage the 3 clamps to separate the wire harness from the shift lever assembly.

      Remove the 4 bolts and shift lever assembly from the vehicle.
