PRECAUTION
Note
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
Note
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.
SECURE VEHICLE
Fully apply the parking brake and chock a wheel.
CAUTION:
Make sure to apply the parking brake and chock a wheel before performing this procedure.
If the vehicle is not secure and the shift lever is moved to N, the vehicle may suddenly move, possibly resulting in an accident or serious injury.
REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER
DISCONNECT NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE
SEPARATE NO. 2 VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY
DISCONNECT NO. 1 AIR HOSE
REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY
REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY
REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY
REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY
REMOVE BATTERY
REMOVE BATTERY TRAY
REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER
REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY
REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR
Remove the nut and 2 bolts and front No. 2 floor heat insulator.
REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
Move the shift lever to N.
Disconnect the end of the transmission control cable assembly from the shift lever assembly.

Rotate approximately 180° |

Pull out |
Rotate the nut of the transmission control cable assembly approximately 180° in the direction shown in the illustration, and while holding the nut, separate the transmission control cable assembly from the shift lever assembly.
Note
Rotating the nut too much will damage the internal spring, and the transmission control cable assembly will not be reusable. Do not turn the nut too far.
Remove the nut and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the transmission control shaft lever.
Remove the clip and separate the transmission control cable assembly from the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket.
Remove the 4 nuts and then remove the transmission control cable assembly from the vehicle exterior.
