PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  3. SECURE VEHICLE


    1. Fully apply the parking brake and chock a wheel.

      CAUTION:


      • B0045U6

        Make sure to apply the parking brake and chock a wheel before performing this procedure.

      • If the vehicle is not secure and the shift lever is moved to N, the vehicle may suddenly move, possibly resulting in an accident or serious injury.

  4. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER

  5. DISCONNECT NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE

  6. SEPARATE NO. 2 VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY

  7. DISCONNECT NO. 1 AIR HOSE

    Click here

  8. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY

  9. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY

  10. REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY

  11. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  12. REMOVE BATTERY

  13. REMOVE BATTERY TRAY

  14. REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER

  15. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY

  16. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY

    Note

    To prevent damage to the transmission control cable assembly and shift lever assembly, disconnect the shift lever assembly side of the transmission control cable assembly before disconnecting the continuously variable transaxle assembly side.


    1. Move the shift lever to N.

      Disconnect the end of the transmission control cable assembly from the shift lever assembly.

      *1 Nut
      B0046MU Rotate approximately 180°
      B0045SR Pull out

      Rotate the nut of the transmission control cable assembly approximately 180° in the direction shown in the illustration, and while holding the nut, separate the transmission control cable assembly from the shift lever assembly.

      Note

      Rotating the nut too much will damage the internal spring, and the transmission control cable assembly will not be reusable. Do not turn the nut too far.

      Remove the nut and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the control shaft lever.

    5. Remove the clip and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket.

  17. REMOVE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH


    1. B0046UT

      Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.

    2. Remove the nut, washer and control shaft lever from the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

    3. B0047AP

      Using a screwdriver, bend back the tabs of the lock plate.

    4. Remove the lock nut and lock plate from the park/neutral position switch.

      Remove the 2 bolts and park/neutral position switch from the continuously variable transaxle assembly.
