SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID


    1. Disconnect the shift lock control unit connector.

      Component without harness connected

      (Shift Lock Solenoid)

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (IG) - 6 (E) 20 °C (68 °F) 30 to 35 Ω

      If the resistance is not as specified, replace the shift lock solenoid.

      Component without harness connected

      (Shift Lock Solenoid)

      Check the solenoid operating sound when applying battery voltage across terminals 2 (IG) and 6 (E).

      If the solenoid does not operate, replace the shift lock solenoid.

    4. Connect the shift lock control unit connector.

  2. INSPECT TRANSMISSION SHIFT MAIN SWITCH


    1. Disconnect the shift lock control unit connector.

      (Transmission Shift Main Switch)

      *b Shift lever in M

      Move the shift lever to M.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Shift Position Specified Condition
      4 (MDSW) - 8 (GND) M Below 1 Ω

      (Transmission Shift Main Switch)

      *b Shift lever in E

      Move the shift lever to E.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Shift Position Specified Condition
      4 (MDSW) - 8 (GND) E 10 kΩ or higher

      If the result is not as specified, replace the shift lock control unit assembly.

    6. Connect the shift lock control unit connector.

  3. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR


    1. Disconnect the shift lever position sensor connector.

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Shift Position Specified Condition
      4 (COM1) - 9 (LSWR) - 10 (LSSC) - 13 (LSNC) R Below 1 Ω
      4 (COM1) - 2 (LSRC) - 10 (LSSC) - 6 (LSWN) N Below 1 Ω
      4 (COM1) - 2 (LSRC) - 3 (LSWS) - 13 (LSNC) E, M Below 1 Ω
      11 (COM2) - 5 (LSW+) "+" Below 1 Ω
      11 (COM2) - 5 (LSW+) - 12 (LSW-) M 10 kΩ or higher
      11 (COM2) - 12 (LSW-) "-" Below 1 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, replace the shift lever position sensor.

    3. Connect the shift lever position sensor connector.
