PROCEDURE
PRECAUTION
Note
When the transaxle is removed, be sure to use a new clutch release cylinder with bearing assembly and new installation bolts. Removal of the transaxle allows the compressed clutch release cylinder with bearing assembly to return to its original position, and dust from the moving section could damage the seal of the clutch release cylinder with bearing assembly, possibly causing clutch fluid leaks.
REMOVE MANUAL TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
REMOVE NO. 1 CLUTCH HOUSING COVER
Remove the No. 1 clutch housing cover from the manual transaxle assembly.
REMOVE CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER TO FLEXIBLE HOSE TUBE
Remove the 2 bolts and separate the 2 tube clamps from the manual transaxle assembly.
Using a union nut wrench (10 mm), remove the clutch release cylinder to flexible hose tube from the clutch release bleeder sub-assembly.
REMOVE CLUTCH FLEXIBLE HOSE BRACKET
Remove the bolt and the clutch flexible hose bracket from the manual transaxle assembly.
REMOVE CLUTCH RELEASE BLEEDER SUB-ASSEMBLY
Using a union nut wrench (10 mm), disconnect the clutch release cylinder to bleeder tube from the clutch release bleeder sub-assembly.
Remove the 2 bolts and the clutch release bleeder sub-assembly from the manual transaxle assembly.
REMOVE RELEASE CYLINDER BLEEDER PLUG CAP
Remove the release cylinder bleeder plug cap from the release cylinder bleeder plug.
REMOVE RELEASE CYLINDER BLEEDER PLUG
Remove the release cylinder bleeder plug from the clutch release bleeder sub-assembly.
REMOVE CLUTCH TUBE BOOT
Remove the clutch tube boot from the manual transaxle assembly.
REMOVE CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER WITH BEARING ASSEMBLY
Remove the 3 bolts and the clutch release cylinder with bearing assembly and the clutch release cylinder to bleeder tube from the manual transaxle assembly.
REMOVE CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER TO BLEEDER TUBE
Using a union nut wrench (10 mm), remove the clutch release cylinder to bleeder tube from the clutch release cylinder with bearing assembly.
REMOVE CLUTCH COVER ASSEMBLY
| *a | Matchmark |
Put the matchmarks on the clutch cover assembly and the flywheel sub-assembly.
Loosen each set bolt one turn at a time in the order shown in the illustration until the spring tension is released.
Remove the set bolts and pull off the clutch cover assembly.
Note
Do not drop the clutch disc assembly.
REMOVE CLUTCH DISC ASSEMBLY
Remove the clutch disc assembly.
Note
Keep the lining part of the clutch disc and the surfaces of the pressure plate and flywheel free of oil and foreign matter.
