Note
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
REMOVE BATTERY
REMOVE BATTERY TRAY
REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER (for LHD)
Disengage the 4 wire harness clamps and disconnect the wire harness from the battery carrier.
Remove the 4 bolts and battery carrier.
REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER (for RHD)
Disengage the 5 wire harness clamps and disconnect the wire harness from the battery carrier.
Remove the 4 bolts and battery carrier.
DISCONNECT NO. 2 HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR CONNECTOR
Disconnect the connector of the No. 2 heated oxygen sensor.
REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR
Remove the 2 bolts and the front No. 2 floor heat insulator.
REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY
REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY

Disconnect the control shift cable from the shift lever.
Remove the clip and disconnect the control select cable from the shift lever.
Rotate the nut clockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, separate the control shift cable from the shift lever retainer.
Note
Do not rotate the nut excessively as it may damage the internal spring and the transmission control cable assembly will not be reusable.

Remove the 2 A clips and separate the 2 cables from the control cable bracket.
Remove the 2 B clips and 2 washers, disconnect the 2 cables from the manual transaxle assembly.
Remove the 3 nuts and the transmission control cable assembly.
