| DTC Code | DTC Name |
|---|---|
| P1545 | Starter Maintenance |
DESCRIPTION
If the number of starter operations exceeds a specified limit, Stop and Start system control will be prohibited. This DTC will be stored and the stop and start cancel indicator light will start blinking to inform the driver that control has been prohibited.
The STA signal (starter signal) is directly detected by the engine stop and start ECU and also detected by the ECM and sent to the engine stop and start ECU.
If above two signals do not match, this DTC will be stored.
| DTC No. | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area |
|---|---|---|
| P1545 | The following condition is met (1 trip detection logic):

DTCs for the Stop and Start system are not cleared even if the malfunction has been repaired. After repairing the malfunction, be sure to clear the DTCs (Click here).
After troubleshooting, perform the following steps to recheck for DTCs and check if the Stop and Start system operates normally.
If the battery terminal has been disconnected, the stop and start will be prohibited. In this case, drive the vehicle for 15 to 40 minutes to permit the stop and start operation.
Allow the engine to idle for 3 minutes after the engine warms up and check that the engine speed is within 50 rpm of the target idle speed.
for Manual Transaxle
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Clear the DTCs (Click here).
Start the engine and warm it up.
Drive the vehicle at 20 km/h (12.4 mph) or more.
Stop the vehicle, allow the engine to stop due to Stop and Start system control and wait for 3 seconds or more.
Depress the clutch pedal to allow the engine to restart.
If the engine cranks slowly when the engine is restarted, it can be determined that battery voltage is low.
Check that no DTCs are output (Click here).
for CVT
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Clear the DTCs (Click here).
Start the engine and warm it up.
Drive the vehicle at 20 km/h (12.4 mph) or more.
Stop the vehicle, allow the engine to stop due to Stop and Start system control and wait for 3 seconds or more.
Release the brake pedal to allow the engine to restart. (with the shift lever in D)

for Manual Transaxle
Warm up the engine.
Turn the air conditioning system off.
Drive the vehicle at 7 km/h (4.3 mph) or more.
Stop the vehicle. Move the shift lever to neutral and release the clutch pedal.
Check that the engine stops.
Depress the clutch pedal and check that the engine restarts.
for CVT
Warm up the engine.
Turn the air conditioning system off.
Drive the vehicle at 7 km/h (4.3 mph) or more.
Stop the vehicle with the shift lever in D and depressed the brake pedal.
Check that the engine stops.
Release the brake pedal and check that the engine restarts.
CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
If the engine stop and start ECU is being replaced, download the number of starter operations to the tester from the old ECU before removing it, and then upload the number of starter operations from the tester to the new engine stop and start ECU after installing the ECU (Click here).
After the starter assembly is replaced, be sure to clear the number of starter operations stored in the engine stop and start ECU (Click here).
After the engine stop and start ECU is replaced or after an air conditioner kit is installed, clear the A/C information stored in the engine stop and start ECU (Click here).
Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.
After the engine stop and start ECU or airbag sensor assembly (yaw rate sensor) is replaced, initialize and calibrate 0 point of deceleration sensor (Click here).
PROCEDURE
READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (STARTER OPERATION NUMBER)
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the tester on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Data List / Starter Operation #.
Read the Starter Operation # value displayed on the intelligent tester.
| Result | Proceed to |
|---|---|
| 368000 or more | A |
| Below 368000 | B |
Each engine start due to Stop and Start system control increases the count record by 1, and each engine start using the ignition switch increases the count record by 3.
REPLACE STARTER ASSEMBLY
Replace the starter assembly (Click here).
Reset the starter operation number (Click here).
END
READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (STARTER SIGNAL FOR SFI SYSTEM)
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the tester on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Starter.
Depress the clutch pedal fully. (for Manual Transaxle)
Read the value displayed on the intelligent tester when the ignition switch is turned to the ON and START positions.
The value may not be displayed correctly on the intelligent tester. because of the battery's condition (a minimum battery voltage when to start the engine: 8.5 V or higher)
