STOP AND START SYSTEM REGISTRATION

PROCEDURE

  1. ECU EXCHANGE

    Tech Tips

After replacing the engine stop and start ECU, upload the number of starter operations to the new ECU using the tester.

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / ECU Exchange.

    5. Following the prompts on the tester display, download the previous status (the number of starter operations) from the old engine stop and start ECU to the tester.

    6. Replace the engine stop and start ECU Click here.

    7. Following the prompts on the tester display, upload the previous status (the number of starter operations) from the tester to the new ECU.

  2. CLEAR NUMBER OF STARTER OPERATIONS

    Tech Tips

After the starter assembly is replaced, be sure to clear the number of starter operations stored in the engine stop and start ECU.

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / Starter Exchange.

    5. Following the prompts on the tester display, clear the number of starter operations.

  3. CLEAR A/C INFORMATION

    Tech Tips

After the engine stop and start ECU is replaced or after an air conditioner kit is installed, clear the A/C information stored in the engine stop and start ECU.

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / Reset A/C Information.

    5. Following the prompts on the tester display, clear the A/C information.

  4. REGISTER A/C INFORMATION

A/C information is automatically registered via CAN.

Check that the CAN communication system is functioning normally Click here.

  5. CLEAR THE ZERO POINT CALIBRATION DATA

    Note

    • Stored system information cannot be overwritten unless it is cleared. Clear the stored information and then store new system information.

    • When the engine stop and start ECU or components of the VSC system are replaced, initialization/obtainment of 0 point learning information is performed for the engine stop and start ECU.

    1. Clear the zero point calibration data.

      1. Turn the ignition switch off.

      2. Check that the shift lever is in P.

      3. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

      4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      5. Turn the intelligent tester on.

      6. Select the engine stop and start ECU to clear the zero point calibration data using the intelligent tester. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / Deceleration Sensor Zero Point Clear.

      7. Turn the ignition switch off.

  6. PERFORM ZERO POINT CALIBRATION OF THE DECELERATION SENSOR (with VSC)

    Note

    • While obtaining the zero points, keep the vehicle stationary and do not vibrate, tilt, move, or shake it. (Do not start the engine.)

    • Be sure to perform this procedure on a level surface (with an inclination of less than 1 degree).

    1. Perform zero point calibration of the deceleration sensor.

      1. Turn the ignition switch off.

      2. Check that the shift lever is in P.

      3. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

      4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / Deceleration Sensor Zero Point Calibration.

      6. After operation of the Deceleration Sensor Zero Point Calibration, keep the vehicle stationary on a level surface for 5 seconds or more.

      7. Drive the vehicle and check if the stop and start cancel indicator light comes on or not.

        Tech Tips

When 0 point is obtained, DTP P1589 is deleted automatically.

      8. Turn the ignition switch off and disconnect the intelligent tester.

    2. In case 0 point is not acquired normally, perform the procedure from 0 point deletion again.
