STARTER REASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL STARTER CENTER BEARING CLUTCH SUB-ASSEMBLY

      B0046MU High-temperature grease

      Apply high-temperature grease to the drive lever contact surfaces.

      Tech Tips

      Apply approximately 0.1 g of high-temperature grease to each section.

      *b Protrusion

      Align the cutout of the starter drive housing assembly with the protrusion of the starter center bearing clutch sub-assembly and install the starter center bearing clutch sub-assembly.

      Install the rubber seal to the starter drive housing assembly.

  2. INSTALL STARTER BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY

      Install the starter commutator end frame assembly to the starter brush holder assembly as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      If the parts are not aligned correctly, the through bolt cannot be attached.

      Spread the brushes on the starter brush holder assembly, and install the starter armature assembly to the starter brush holder assembly.

  3. INSTALL STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY

      *1 Starter Yoke Assembly
      *2 Starter Brush Holder Assembly
      *3 Starter Armature Assembly
      *a Hammer

      Install the starter yoke assembly while holding down the starter armature assembly and starter brush holder assembly with the handle of a hammer.

      Tech Tips

      The starter armature assembly will be attracted by the magnetic field of the starter yoke assembly. Hold the starter armature assembly with the handle of the hammer.

  4. INSTALL STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY

      Align the cutout of the starter yoke assembly with the protrusion of the starter center bearing clutch sub-assembly.

    2. Using a 7 mm socket wrench, install the starter yoke assembly with the 3 through bolts.

      Torque:
      3.0 N*m  { 31 kgf*cm, 27 in.*lbf }

  5. INSTALL BATTERY TERMINAL STARTER KIT

      *a Pinion Drive Lever
      *b Hook

      Hang the hook of the battery terminal starter kit on the pinion drive lever.

    2. B0047SGC01
      *a Terminal C

      Push down the rear of the battery terminal starter kit and connect it to terminal C.

      Note


      • Connect the battery terminal starter kit securely to terminal C.

      • Check that the parts are free of foreign matter, oil or grease.

    3. B0047JM

      Using a 7 mm socket wrench, install the battery terminal starter kit with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      3.0 N*m  { 31 kgf*cm, 27 in.*lbf }
