STARTER(w/o Stop and Start System for Cold Area Specification Vehicles) DISASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE STARTER TERMINAL

      Open the terminal cap.

    2. Remove the nut and starter terminal from the magnet starter switch assembly.

  2. REMOVE MAGNET STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

      Remove the nut to disconnect the lead wire from the terminal C.

    2. A01VFUN

      Remove the 2 nuts.

      While lifting the rear of the magnet starter switch assembly, release the hook from the starter pinion drive lever, then remove the magnet starter switch assembly.

  3. REMOVE STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY

      Using "TORX" socket wrench T25, remove the 2 through bolts.

    2. A01VJNI

      Pull out the starter yoke assembly together with the starter armature assembly to remove it from the starter drive housing.

  4. REMOVE STARTER COMMUTATOR END FRAME ASSEMBLY


    1. A01VJUS

      Remove the 2 screws.

      Remove the starter commutator end frame assembly from the starter yoke assembly.

      Note

      While holding down the lead wire, remove the starter commutator end frame assembly.

  5. REMOVE STARTER BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY

      Using a screwdriver, hold the spring back and disconnect the brush from the brush holder.

    2. Disconnect the 4 brushes, and remove the starter brush holder assembly.

  6. REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY

      Remove the starter armature assembly from the starter yoke assembly.

  7. REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE PLATE


    1. Remove the starter armature plate from the starter drive housing or starter yoke assembly.

  8. REMOVE PLANETARY GEAR


    1. A01VGB6

      Remove the 3 planetary gears from the starter center bearing clutch sub-assembly.

  9. REMOVE STARTER CENTER BEARING CLUTCH SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the rubber seal from the starter drive housing.

      Remove the starter center bearing clutch sub-assembly with starter pinion drive lever from the starter drive housing.

    3. Remove the starter pinion drive lever from the starter center bearing clutch sub-assembly.

  10. REMOVE DUST STARTER PROTECTOR

    1. Remove the dust starter protector from the starter yoke assembly.
