STARTER(for Cold Area Specification Vehicles) DISASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE MAGNET STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. A01VLFW

      Remove the nut, then disconnect the lead wire from the magnet starter switch assembly.

    2. A01VEIX

      Remove the 3 nuts from the starter drive housing assembly while holding the magnet starter switch assembly.

    3. Remove the magnet starter switch assembly.

    4. Remove the return spring.

      Pull up the housing side of the plunger, then remove the plunger.

  2. REMOVE STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY

      Using a "TORX" socket wrench T25, remove the 2 through bolts.

    2. A01VM1B

      Pull out the starter yoke assembly together with the starter commutator end frame assembly.

    3. A01VGIX

      Pull the starter yoke assembly out of the starter commutator end frame assembly.

  3. REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY


    1. A01VJ99

      Remove the starter armature assembly from the starter yoke assembly.

  4. REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE PLATE


    1. Remove the armature plate from the starter drive housing assembly or the starter yoke assembly.

  5. REMOVE STARTER BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY


    1. A01VDOS

      Remove the 2 screws from the starter commutator end frame assembly.

    2. A01VGBX

      Remove the claw of the clamp, then remove the brush holder assembly from the starter commutator end frame assembly.

  6. REMOVE PLANET GEAR


    1. A01VE2S

      Remove the 3 planet gears from the starter center bearing clutch sub-assembly.

  7. REMOVE STARTER CENTER BEARING CLUTCH SUB-ASSEMBLY

      *3 Starter Center Bearing Clutch Sub-Assembly

      Remove the starter center bearing clutch sub-assembly with starter pinion drive lever from the starter drive housing assembly.

    2. Remove the starter center bearing clutch sub-assembly and rubber seal from the starter pinion drive lever.
