PROCEDURE
REMOVE MAGNET STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
Remove the nut to disconnect the wire harness from the terminal 45.
Using "TORX" socket wrench T20, remove the 2 bolts and magnet starter switch assembly from the starter drive housing assembly.
Remove the return spring from the starter pinion drive lever.
REMOVE STARTER COMMUTATOR END FRAME ASSEMBLY
Remove the 2 through bolts.

Remove the starter commutator end frame assembly together with starter yoke assembly, starter pinion drive lever and rubber seal from the starter drive housing assembly.
Remove the starter pinion drive lever from the starter clutch sub-assembly.
Remove the starter commutator end frame assembly from the starter yoke assembly.
Note
While holding down the lead wire, remove the starter commutator end frame assembly.
REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY
Secure the starter armature assembly shaft in a vise between aluminum plates.
Note
Do not overtighten the vise.
Remove the brush holder insulator from the brush holder of the starter yoke assembly.
Remove the 4 brush springs.
Note
Make sure the brush spring does not fly out.
Remove the starter armature assembly from the vise.
Remove the starter armature assembly together with starter clutch sub-assembly from the starter yoke assembly.
REMOVE STARTER CLUTCH SUB-ASSEMBLY
Secure the starter armature assembly in a vise between aluminum plates.
Note
Do not overtighten the vise.
Using a screwdriver, move the stop collar toward the starter clutch sub-assembly.

Using a screwdriver, pry off the snap ring.

Remove the stop collar and starter clutch sub-assembly from the starter armature assembly.
