INSPECT LIGHTING DURATION OF GLOW INDICATOR LIGHT

    1. A01VHR6E02

Turn the ignition switch to ON and measure the duration of time that the light remains illuminated.

      Light illumination duration
Refer to the graph and the table *1
*1: Lighting duration depending on atmospheric pressure.
      Table 1. Text in Illustration
*a Second *b Engine Coolant Temperature
      *c Glow Time - -

If the result is not as specified, check the ECM, engine coolant temperature sensor, glow plug and glow plug relay.

    INSPECT PRE-HEATING

    1. A01VGHEE04

Turn the ignition switch to ON and measure the length of time that battery voltage is applied to the glow plugs.

      Pre-heating time
      Refer to the graph *1
*1: Pre-heating time changes depending on battery voltage and engine coolant temperature.

If the result is not as specified, check the ECM, engine coolant temperature sensor, glow plug and glow plug relay.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to the START position and check that the battery voltage is applied to the glow plugs.

    3. While cranking the engine, measure the length of time that battery voltage is applied to the glow plugs.

      Pre-heating time
      Refer to the graph *1
*1: Pre-heating time changes depending on battery voltage and engine coolant temperature.
      Table 2. Text in Illustration
      *a Second *b Pre-heating Time
      *c Battery Voltage [V] - -
      Note:

      Do not start the engine.

If the result is not as specified, check the ECM, engine coolant temperature sensor, glow plug and glow plug relay.

      (to Glow Plug Relay)

    2. A01VEX9E02

After the engine starts, measure the length of time that battery voltage remains present.

      After Glow Time
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
B76-2 - Body ground - Refer to the graph above*1

*1: After glow time depending on atmospheric pressure and engine coolant temperature.

      Table 4. Text in Illustration
*a Second *b After Glow Time
      *c Engine Coolant Temperature - -

If the result is not as specified, check the ECM, engine coolant temperature sensor, glow plug and glow plug relay.
