THERMOSTAT REMOVAL

CAUTION:

    When the engine is hot, do not touch high-temperature areas such as the engine or exhaust manifold.

  • Touching high-temperature areas such as the engine and exhaust manifold could result in burns.

PROCEDURE


  1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT

    Click here

  2. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY


  3. DISCONNECT NO. 1 WATER BY-PASS PIPE

      Using a 12 mm union nut wrench, remove the bolt and separate the No. 1 water by-pass pipe from the cylinder block sub-assembly.

    2. A0048YJ

      Slide the hose clip and disconnect the No. 1 water by-pass hose from the water inlet with thermostat sub-assembly.

  4. DISCONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE

  5. REMOVE WATER INLET WITH THERMOSTAT SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 3 bolts and water inlet with thermostat sub-assembly from the timing chain cover assembly.

    2. A0049UX

      Remove the No. 2 water inlet housing gasket from the water inlet with thermostat sub-assembly.
