VACUUM SENSOR ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

   INSPECT VACUUM SENSOR (MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR)

   
   
   1. 

      *a	Front view of wire harness connector (to Vacuum Sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor))

      Check the terminal voltage.

      
      

      1. Disconnect the vacuum sensor (manifold absolute pressure sensor) connector.

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

         Standard Voltage
         Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition B91-3 (VC) - B91-2 (E2) Ignition switch ON 4.75 to 5.25 V B91-1 (PIM) - B91-2 (E2) Ignition switch ON 3.0 to 5.25 V

         If the result is not as specified, there may be an open or short in the VC or E2 circuit.

   2. Check the intake manifold pressure.

      
      

      1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the GTS on.

      4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / All Data / MAP.

      5. Read the values displayed on the GTS.

         OK
         Equivalent to atmospheric pressure.

         Tip:
         

         • Standard atmospheric pressure is 101 kPa(abs) [758 mmHg(abs)].

         • For every 100 m (328 ft) increase in altitude, pressure drops by 1 kPa (7.5 mmHg). This varies by weather.
