After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.
PROCEDURE
DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE
Note
Perform the following procedure to prevent fuel from spilling out before removing any fuel system parts.
Even after discharging the fuel pressure, when disconnecting a fuel line, cover it with a piece of cloth to prevent fuel from spraying or coming out.

Remove the rear floor service hole cover.
Disconnect the connector from the fuel pump assembly.
Start the engine. After the engine stops naturally, turn the ignition switch off.
Note
Do not increase the engine speed or drive the vehicle while waiting for the engine to stop naturally.
Tech Tips
DTC P0171/25 may be set.
Crank the engine again and make sure that the engine does not start.
Remove the fuel tank cap and discharge the pressure from the fuel tank.
Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
Connect the connector of the fuel pump assembly.
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY
REMOVE EFI FUEL PIPE CLAMP
Remove the EFI fuel pipe clamp from the fuel tube connector.
SEPARATE FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

Disconnect the fuel ground cable from the union tube.
Pinch the tube connector and then pull out the fuel pipe.
Note
Remove any dirt and foreign matter around the connector before performing this operation.
Be careful of mud because the quick connector has O-rings which seal the pipe and connector that can be contaminated.
Do not use any tools in this operation.
Do not bend or twist the nylon tube. Protect the connector by covering it with a plastic bag.
Push and pull the connector to release when the pipe and the connector are stuck and pull the connector out carefully.
REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE
Disconnect the 3 ignition coil connectors.
Disconnect the 3 injector connectors.
Disengage the 3 clamps, and separate the engine wire harness from the cylinder head cover.
Remove the 2 bolts and 2 wire harness brackets.
Remove the 2 bolts and delivery pipe together with the 3 injectors.
Note
Do not drop the injectors when removing the delivery pipe.
Remove the 3 injector vibration insulators from the cylinder head.
REMOVE FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY
Pull the 3 injectors out of the fuel delivery pipe.
For reinstallation, attach a tag or label to each injector shaft.
Note
Prevent entry of foreign objects by covering the fuel injectors with plastic bags.
Remove the O-ring from the injector.
