FRONT CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL RH

  2. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER RH

  3. REMOVE FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT

    Click here

  4. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY

      *a Hold
      *b Turn

      Using SST, hold the crankshaft pulley and loosen the crankshaft pulley set bolt.

      SST
      09960-10010   ( 09962-01000, 09963-01000 )

      Tech Tips

      Further loosen the crankshaft pulley set bolt until 2 or 3 threads remain screwed into the crankshaft.

    2. A0049EWC02
      *a Hold
      *b Turn

      Using SST, remove the crankshaft pulley and crankshaft pulley set bolt from the crankshaft.

      Note


      • Apply lubricant to the threads and end of SST.

      • Do not let SST or the crankshaft pulley drop.

  5. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN COVER OIL SEAL

      *a Protective Tape
      *b Cut Position

      Using a knife, cut off the lip of the timing chain cover oil seal.

    2. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, pry out the timing chain cover oil seal from the timing chain cover assembly.

      Note


      • Do not damage the surface of the timing chain cover oil seal press fit hole or the crankshaft.

      • After removing the timing chain cover oil seal, check the crankshaft for damage. If damaged, smooth the surface with 400-grit sandpaper.
