Tech Tips

Use a Toyota genuine belt or an equivalent high strength belt when replacing the belt. If a high strength belt is not used, the durability of the belt may be insufficient. A high strength belt is reinforced with an aramid core and is stronger than the other belts with PET (polyester) or PEN (polyethylene naphthalate) core.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER RH


    1. Remove the 2 screws, 2 bolts and engine under cover RH from the vehicle.

  2. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER

  3. REMOVE FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT

    1. Using SST, release the fan and generator V belt tension by turning the V-ribbed belt tensioner assembly counterclockwise, and remove the fan and generator V belt from each pulley.

      *a 5 mm Hexagon Wrench

      While turning the V-ribbed belt tensioner assembly counterclockwise, align the holes, and then insert a 5 mm hexagon wrench into the holes to fix the V-ribbed belt tensioner assembly.
