  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following procedure.

  • After turning engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK WHETHER ENGINE STARTS


    1. Check if the engine can be cranked.

  2. READ VALUE USING GTS (STARTER SIGNAL)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Starter Signal.

    5. Check the value displayed on the GTS when the engine switch is turned to on (IG) and the engine is started.

  3. INSPECT ST RELAY

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - STARTER ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the B144 starter assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  6. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (POWER SOURCE OF ST RELAY)

      *1 No. 1 Engine Room Relay Block
      *2 ST Relay Holder

      Remove the ST relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      5 (ST relay holder) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ST RELAY - BODY GROUND)


    1. Remove the ST relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ST RELAY - STARTER ASSEMBLY)


    1. Remove the ST relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block.

    2. Disconnect the B1 starter assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      3 (ST relay holder) - B1-1 Always Below 1 Ω

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STA SIGNAL CIRCUIT)


    1. Remove the ST relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block.

    2. Disconnect the F65 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.

    3. Disconnect the A118 gateway ECU connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F65-7 (STA) - A118-14 (STA) Always Below 1 Ω
      2 (ST relay holder), F65-7 (STA), A118-14 (STA) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

  10. READ VALUE USING GTS (STARTER SIGNAL)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Starter Signal.

    5. Check the value displayed on the GTS when the engine switch is turned to on (IG) and the engine is started.
