Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

  1. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY


    1. Inspect the throttle body with motor assembly.

      Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the throttle body with motor assembly.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR


    1. Disconnect the B29 throttle body with motor assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the B142 ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B29-1 (M+) - B45-48 (M+) Always Below 1 Ω
      B29-2 (M-) - B45-35 (M-) Always Below 1 Ω
      B29-1 (M+) or B45-48 (M+) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

  3. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY


    1. Check for contamination between the throttle valve and housing. If necessary, clean the throttle body with motor assembly. Also, check that the throttle valve moves smoothly.

      Tech Tips


      • Throttle valve is not contaminated with foreign objects and moves smoothly.

      • Perform "Inspection After Repair" after cleaning the throttle body with motor assembly.
