MONITOR DESCRIPTION
The ECM controls the engine idle speed using a combination of spark advance and throttle blade adjustment. If this control cannot attain the desired idle speed a fault is diagnosed.
CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
Tech Tips
The following conditions may also cause DTC P0506 to be stored:
The floor carpet overlapping slightly onto the accelerator pedal, causing the accelerator pedal to be slightly depressed and therefore the throttle valve position to be slightly open.
The accelerator pedal being not fully released.
Read freeze frame data using the GTS. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
Refer to "Data List / Active Test" [Engine Speed, ISC Feedback Value and ISC Learning Value].
PROCEDURE
CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0507)
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
Read the DTCs.

Tech Tips
If any DTCs other than P507 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

REMOVE FOREIGN MATTER (CLEAN THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY)
Clean off any deposits from the inside of the throttle body assembly.

Push open the throttle valve and wipe off any carbon from the valve and bore using a piece of cloth soaked in non-residue solvent.
Note
Make sure that the cloth or your fingers do not get caught in the valve.
Make sure that foreign matter does not enter the throttle valve.
Do not directly apply non-residue solvent to the throttle body with motor assembly or wash the throttle body with motor assembly. Cleaning solvent may leak into the motor from the shaft and cause problems such as rust or valve movement problems.
If there is coating material on the edge of the valve, be careful not to remove it.
Push the throttle valve open gently with your finger and check that the throttle valve moves smoothly.
Tech Tips
If the throttle valve does not move smoothly, replace the throttle body with motor assembly.
Perform "Inspection After Repair" after cleaning the throttle body with motor assembly.

CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Turn the GTS on.
Clear the DTCs.
Turn the engine switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Turn the GTS on.
Start the engine.
Warm up the engine.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.
Input the DTC: P0507.
Check the DTC judgment result.
Tech Tips
Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the throttle body with motor assembly.
