MASS AIR FLOW METER ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

Note


  • Perform the mass air flow meter inspection according to the following procedure.

  • Only replace the mass air flow meter when the mass air flow meter value in the Data List (with the engine stopped) is not within the normal operating range or there is foreign matter on the mass air flow meter platinum hot wire (heater).

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT MASS AIR FLOW METER

    Note


    • Perform the inspection with the vehicle indoors and on a level surface.

    • Perform the inspection of the mass air flow meter while it is installed to the air cleaner cap (installed to the vehicle).

    • During this inspection, do not use an exhaust air duct on the exhaust pipe.

    Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the mass air flow meter.

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) (do not start the engine).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / MAF.

    5. Wait for 30 seconds, and then read the Data List according to the display on the GTS.

      Standard Condition

      MAF

      • Engine not running

      • 30 seconds after engine switch turned to on (IG)

      		 0.25 gm/sec or less

      If the result is not as specified, replace the mass air flow meter.

      If the result is within the specified range, inspect the mass air flow meter.

  2. PERFORM INITIALIZATION


    1. Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the mass air flow meter.
