MONITOR DESCRIPTION
The barometric pressure sensor is located internally within the ECU, and measures atmospheric pressure. This parameter is required to compensate the mass air flow when the vehicle is operated at higher altitudes.
CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
Tech Tips
Read freeze frame data using the GTS. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
PROCEDURE
CHECK DTC OUTPUT
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Turn the GTS on.
Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).
Start the engine and allow it to idle for 15 seconds or more.
Turn the engine switch off.
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Atmosphere Pressure.
Read the values displayed on the GTS.
| OK |

| Approximately the same as ambient atmospheric pressure. |
Tech Tips
Standard atmospheric pressure is 101 kPa(abs) [758 mmHg(abs)].
For every 100 m (328 ft.) increase in altitude, pressure drops by 1 kPa (7.5 mmHg). This varies by weather.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
Check that no DTCs are output.
