CAMSHAFT OIL CONTROL VALVE ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY

   
   

   1. Inspect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (for intake side).

      
      

      1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

      2. Start the engine.

      3. Turn the intelligent tester on.

      4. Warm up the engine.

      5. Turn the A/C on.

      6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the VVT Linear (Bank 1).

      7. Check the engine speed while operating the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly using the intelligent tester.

         OK
         Tester Operation Specified Condition 0% Normal engine speed 100% Engine idles roughly or stalls

         If the result is not as specified, check the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly, wire harness and ECM.

   2. Inspect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (for exhaust side).

      
      

      1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

      2. Start the engine.

      3. Turn the intelligent tester on.

      4. Warm up the engine.

      5. Turn the A/C on.

      6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank 1).

      7. Check the engine speed while operating the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly using the intelligent tester.

         OK
         Tester Operation Specified Condition 0% Normal engine speed 100% Engine idles roughly or stalls

         If the result is not as specified, check the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly, wire harness and ECM.
