Note


  • When replacing the ECM, the ECM needs Registration and Initialization Click here.

  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

Tech Tips

When the ECM must be replaced, before replacing the ECM, perform the "Learning Values Save" function using the GTS. Then after installing the new ECM, perform all of the initialization/registrations for the "Learning Values Write" function by following the instructions shown on the GTS display.

  1. CHECK WHETHER ENGINE CAN BE CRANKED


    1. Check if the engine can be cranked.

  2. READ VALUE USING GTS (STARTER SIGNAL)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Starter Signal.

    5. Check the value displayed on the GTS when the ignition switch is turned to the ON and START positions.

  3. CHECK ST RELAY (POWER SOURCE)

      Remove the ST relay from the engine room relay block.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - ST RELAY - BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the A108 ECM connector.

    2. Remove the ST relay from the engine room relay block.

    3. Disconnect the A90 power management control ECU connector.

    4. Disconnect the A39 clutch start switch assembly connector.

    5. Disconnect the B1 starter assembly connector.

    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A108-53 (STA) - 2 (ST relay holder) Always Below 1 Ω
      1 (ST relay holder) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      3 (ST relay holder) - B1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      A108-53 (STA) or 2 (ST relay holder) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      3 (ST relay holder) or B1-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - ST RELAY - BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the A108 ECM connector.

    2. Remove the ST relay from the engine room relay block.

    3. Disconnect the A90 power management control ECU connector.

    4. Disconnect the A39 clutch start switch assembly connector.

    5. Disconnect the A92 engine stop and start ECU connector.

    6. Disconnect the B1 starter assembly connector.

    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (ST relay holder) - A108-53 (STA) Always Below 1 Ω
      1 (ST relay holder) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    1. Disconnect the A39 clutch start switch assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the F13 ignition or starter switch assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    1. Disconnect the A108 ECM connector.

    2. Disconnect the A39 clutch start switch assembly connector.

    3. Remove the ST relay from the engine room relay block.

    4. Disconnect the A90 power management control ECU connector.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    1. Disconnect the A108 ECM connector.

    2. Disconnect the A39 clutch start switch assembly connector.

    3. Remove the ST relay from the engine room relay block.

    4. Disconnect the A90 power management control ECU connector.

    5. Disconnect the A92 engine stop and start ECU connector.

    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
