ECD SYSTEM(w/ DPF), Diagnostic DTC:P2610

DTC Code DTC Name
P2610 ECM / PCM Internal Engine Off Timer Performance

DESCRIPTION

The soak timer measures the engine off soak time, which is the time elapsed after the ignition switch has been turned off. The ECM uses the engine off soak time to monitor some systems for malfunction detection.

If necessary, the soak timer may activate the ECM to perform certain malfunction checks that can only be performed after the engine stopped. The soak timer is built into the ECM.

Ignition switch ON to off for 30 seconds or more ECM internal malfunction (2 trip detection logic). ECM

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

The ECM compares the soak timer value with the ECM timer value from turning the ignition switch off until the ECD-MAIN relay turned off. If the difference has deviated more than the allowable range, the ECM determines that there is a malfunction and illuminates the MIL in the next step.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note

  • After replacing the ECM, the new ECM needs Registration and Initialization Click here.

  • Inspect the fuses of circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

Tech Tips

  • DTC P2610 is stored if an internal ECM problem is detected. Diagnostic procedures are not required. ECM replacement is necessary.

  • When the ECM must be replaced, before replacing the ECM, perform the "Learning Values Save" function using the GTS. Then after installing a new ECM, perform all of the initialization and registration procedures for the "Learning Values Write" function by following the instructions shown on the GTS display.

  • Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE

  1. REPLACE ECM

    1. Replace the ECM Click here.

  2. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    5. Turn the ignition switch off and wait 30 seconds or more.

    6. Start the engine.

    7. Turn the ignition switch off and wait 30 seconds or more.

    8. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    9. Turn the GTS on.

    10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

    11. If no DTC is output, the repair has been successfully completed.
