Ignition switch is ON

Condition (a) continues for 0.5 seconds or more:

(a) VPA2 - VPA < 0.45 V

(1 trip detection logic)

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P2138)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Start the engine.

    5. Allow the engine to idle for 1 minute or more.

    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

    7. Read the DTCs.

      Result
      Result Proceed to
      DTC P2138 is output A
      DTC P2138 and other DTCs are output B

      Tech Tips

      If any DTCs other than P2138 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

  2. REPLACE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR ASSEMBLY


    1. Replace the accelerator pedal sensor assembly Click here.


    NEXT
  3. CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    5. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 30 seconds or more.

    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    7. Depress and release the accelerator pedal slowly and completely several times.

    8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

    9. Confirm that the DTC is not output again.
