DESCRIPTION

The clutch switch is mounted on the clutch pedal. The switch is turned off when depressing the clutch pedal, and transmits a signal to the ECM.

Note:
  • When replacing the ECM, the ECM needs Registration and Initialization (Click here).

  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

Tip:
  • When the ECM must be replaced, before replacing the ECM, perform the "Learning Values Save" function using the GTS. Then after installing the new ECM, perform all of the initialization/registrations for the "Learning Values Write" function by following the instructions shown on the GTS display.

  • Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

    CHECK NO. 2 CLUTCH START SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Check the No. 2 clutch start switch assembly installation (Click here).

      OK
      No. 2 clutch start switch assembly is installed correctly.

  2. Click here

    INSPECT NO. 2 CLUTCH START SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Inspect the No. 2 clutch start switch assembly (Click here).


  3. Click here

    CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - NO. 2 CLUTCH START SWITCH ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the A40 No. 2 clutch start switch assembly connector (for LHD).

    2. Disconnect the A41 No. 2 clutch start switch assembly connector (for RHD).

    3. Disconnect the A108 ECM connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      A40-2 or A108-36 (D) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (POWER SOURCE OF NO. 2 CLUTCH START SWITCH ASSEMBLY)

      Disconnect the No. 2 clutch start switch assembly connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    SECURELY REINSTALL NO. 2 CLUTCH START SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Securely reinstall the No. 2 clutch start switch assembly (Click here).

    REPLACE NO. 2 CLUTCH START SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Replace the No. 2 clutch start switch assembly (Click here).


  8. Click here

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Clear the DTCs (Click here).

    5. Start the engine.

    6. Change the shift more than 10 times during city driving.

    7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

    8. Confirm that the DTC is not output again.

    CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY - NO. 2 CLUTCH START SWITCH ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the A40 No. 2 clutch start switch assembly connector (for LHD).

    2. Disconnect the A41 No. 2 clutch start switch assembly connector (for RHD).

    3. Remove the No. 1 integration relay from engine room relay block.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      A40-1 or 1D-10 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
