Note
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER SUPPORT (w/ Entry and Start System)
REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER
REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER
REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY
Disconnect each connector from the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.
Note
When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
Slide the slider and disconnect the airbag connector.

Disengage the 3 claws and remove the spiral cable sub-assembly.
Note
Do not replace the spiral cable sub-assembly when the ignition switch is ON and the battery cable is connected.
Do not rotate the spiral cable sub-assembly when the ignition switch is ON and the battery cable is connected.
Make sure the steering wheel is installed and centered before rotating the steering angle sensor when performing steering angle sensor operation inspections (inspecting for abnormal noise, diagnosis inspections, etc.).
Do not remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable sub-assembly.
If there is a malfunction in the steering angle sensor, replace the spiral cable sub-assembly with steering angle sensor.
