C1281 Master Cylinder Pressure Sensor Output Malfunction (Test Mode DTC)

DESCRIPTION

The master cylinder pressure sensor is connected to the skid control ECU in the brake actuator assembly.

DTC C1281 is deleted when the master cylinder pressure sensor sends a master cylinder pressure signal or test mode ends.

DTC C1281 is output only in test mode.

  1. Despite stop light switch signal being off, master cylinder pressure 10 bars (1000 kPa) or more for 8 minutes or more

  2. Malfunction in master cylinder pressure sensor or its circuit

  3. When stop light switch off, master cylinder pressure changes by 500 bars (50000 kPa) or more

C1281 Detected only during test mode.

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (STOP LIGHT SWITCH)


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the tester on.

    4. Enter the following menu: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Data List.

    5. In accordance with the display on the tester, read the Data List.

      Stop Light SW

      Stop light switch:

      ON or OFF

      ON: Brake pedal applied

      OFF: Brake pedal released

    6. Check that "Stop Light SW" turns ON and OFF when the brake pedal is depressed and released.

      "Stop Light SW" turns on and off in accordance with the operation of the brake pedal.

  2. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (MASTER CYLINDER SENSOR)


    1. Enter the following menu: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Data List.

    2. In accordance with the display on the tester, read the Data List.

      Master cylinder pressure sensor 1 reading:

      min.: 0 V, max.: 5 V

      When brake pedal released: 0.3 to 0.9 V -
    3. Check that the master cylinder pressure sensor reading increases when the brake pedal is depressed.

  3. RECONFIRM DTC


    1. Clear the DTC(s) Click here.

    2. Drive the vehicle at a speed of 30 km/h (18 mph) or more and perform a braking test (decelerate the vehicle by depressing the brake pedal).

    3. Check if the same DTC(s) is recorded Click here.
