SFI SYSTEM Fuel Injector Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The Fuel injectors are installed in the intake port, and inject fuel into the cylinders based on the signals from the ECM.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (POWER SOURCE OF FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY)

      (to Fuel Injector Assembly)

      Disconnect the fuel injector assembly connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      B5-1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      B7-1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      B9-1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

  2. INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY (INJECTION AND VOLUME)

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY - ECM)


    1. Disconnect the B97 ECM connector (for LHD).

    2. Disconnect the B101 ECM connector (for RHD).

    3. Disconnect the B5, B7 and B9 fuel injector assembly connectors.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      for LHD
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B5-2 - B97-23 (#1) Always Below 1 Ω
      B7-2 - B97-20 (#2) Always Below 1 Ω
      B9-2 - B97-21 (#3) Always Below 1 Ω
      B5-2 or B97-23 (#1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B7-2 or B97-20 (#2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B9-2 or B97-21 (#3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      for RHD
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B5-2 - B101-23 (#1) Always Below 1 Ω
      B7-2 - B101-20 (#2) Always Below 1 Ω
      B9-2 - B101-21 (#3) Always Below 1 Ω
      B5-2 or B101-23 (#1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B7-2 or B101-20 (#2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B9-2 or B101-21 (#3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY - FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY)


    1. Remove the No. 1 integration relay from the engine room relay block.

    2. Disconnect the B5, B7 and B9 fuel injector assembly connectors.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B5-1 - 1E-4 Always Below 1 Ω
      B7-1 - 1E-4 Always Below 1 Ω
      B9-1 - 1E-4 Always Below 1 Ω
      B5-1 or 1E-4 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B7-1 or 1E-4 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B9-1 or 1E-4 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
