CAMSHAFT OIL CONTROL VALVE ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Start the engine.

    3. Turn the tester on.

    4. Warm up the engine.

    5. Turn the A/C on.

    6. Inspect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly.


      1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the VVT Linear (Bank 1).

      2. Check the engine speed while operating the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly using the intelligent tester.

        OK
        Tester Operation Specified Condition
        0% Normal engine speed
        100% Engine idles roughly or stalls

        Tech Tips


        • If the result is not as specified, allow the engine to cool (engine coolant temperature of 50°C (122°f or less) and perform the Active Test again.

        • DTCs related to the VVT system may be stored due to Active Test operation, but this does not indicate a malfunction.

        If the result is not as specified, check the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly, wire harness and ECM.
