Tech Tips

  • Detection is always being performed for P0122, P0123 and P0223 when the ignition switch is ON or the engine is running.

  • Detection for P0222 is performed when the engine speed is 1200 rpm or higher.

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY - ECM)

    1. Disconnect the throttle with motor body assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B89-3 (VC) - B87-55 (VCTA) Always Below 1 Ω
      B89-6 (VTA) - B87-14 (VTA1) Always Below 1 Ω
      B89-5 (VTA2) - B87-15 (VTA2) Always Below 1 Ω
      B89-2 (E2) - B87-35 (ETA) Always Below 1 Ω
B89-3 (VC) or B87-55 (VCTA) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
B89-6 (VTA) or B87-14 (VTA1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B89-5 (VTA2) or B87-15 (VTA2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
B89-2 (E2) or B87-35 (ETA) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
