DESCRIPTION

P2112 The throttle does not open when current is applied to the throttle motor (1 trip detection logic).

  • Open or short circuit in throttle motor circuit

  • Throttle body with motor assembly

DTC P2112 is detected when the ignition switch to ON.

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P2112)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

    5. Read DTCs.

      Result
      Result Proceed to
      DTC P2112 is output A
      DTC P2112 and other DTCs are output B

      Tech Tips

      If any DTCs other than P2112 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

  2. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY (VISUALLY CHECK THROTTLE VALVE)


    1. Remove the throttle body with motor assembly Click here.

    2. Check for contamination between the throttle valve and housing. If necessary, clean the throttle body with motor assembly. Also, check that the throttle valve moves smoothly.

      OK
      Throttle valve is not contaminated with foreign matter and moves smoothly.

    REPLACE THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY Click here

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY - ECM)


    1. Disconnect the B29 throttle body with motor assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the B97 ECM connector (for LHD).

    3. Disconnect the B101 ECM connector (for RHD).

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      for LHD
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A97-30 (M+) - B29-2 (M+) Always Below 1 Ω
      A97-60 (M-) - B29-1 (M-) Always Below 1 Ω
      A97-30 (M+) or B29-2 (M+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A97-60 (M-) or B29-1 (M-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      for RHD
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A101-30 (M+) - B29-2 (M+) Always Below 1 Ω
      A101-60 (M-) - B29-1 (M-) Always Below 1 Ω
      A101-30 (M+) or B29-2 (M+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A101-60 (M-) or B29-1 (M-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  4. REPLACE THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY


    1. Replace the throttle body with motor assembly Click here.

    2. Perform idle learning Click here.

  5. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P2112)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Clear DTCs Click here.

    5. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    7. Turn the GTS on.

    8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

    9. Read the DTCs.

      OK
      DTC is not output.
