SFI SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:P2112

DTC Code DTC Name
P2112 Throttle Actuator Control System - Stuck Closed

DESCRIPTION

Refer to DTC P2101 Click here.

DTC No. DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
P2112

The throttle does not open when current is applied to the throttle motor

(1 trip detection logic).

  • Open or short circuit in throttle motor circuit

  • Throttle with motor body assembly

Tech Tips

Detection for P2112 is performed during electronic throttle learning. (Detection is also performed in the case of electronic throttle learning using a tester).

WIRING DIAGRAM

Refer to DTC P2101 Click here.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note

Perform electronic throttle learning after replacing the throttle with motor body assembly Click here.

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P2112)

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.

    5. Read DTCs.

  2. INSPECT THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY (VISUALLY CHECK THROTTLE VALVE)

    1. Remove the throttle with motor body assembly Click here.

    2. Check for contamination between the throttle valve and housing. If necessary, clean the throttle with motor body assembly. Also, check that the throttle valve moves smoothly.

      OK
Throttle valve is not contaminated with foreign matter and moves smoothly.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY - ECM)

    1. Disconnect the throttle with motor body assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A71-2 (M+) - B89-4 (M+) Always Below 1 Ω
      A71-3 (M-) - B89-1 (M-) Always Below 1 Ω
      A71-2 (M+) or B89-4 (M+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A71-3 (M-) or B89-1 (M-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
