DESCRIPTION

The throttle actuator is operated by the ECM, and opens and closes the throttle valve using gears. The opening angle of the throttle valve is detected by the throttle position sensor, which is mounted on the throttle with motor body assembly. The throttle position sensor provides feedback to the ECM in order that it can control the throttle actuator, and therefore the throttle valve, appropriately in response to driver inputs.

Tip:

This ETCS (Electronic Throttle Control System) does not use a throttle cable.

Note:

Perform electronic throttle learning after replacing the throttle with motor body assembly (Click here).

Tip:

Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE


  1. Click here

    INSPECT THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY (VISUALLY CHECK THROTTLE VALVE)


    1. Remove the throttle with motor body assembly (Click here).

    2. Check for contamination between the throttle valve and the housing, and check that the throttle valve moves smoothly.

      OK
      No contamination between the throttle valve and the housing, and the throttle valve moves smoothly.

    3. Reinstall the throttle with motor body assembly.

    4. Perform electronic throttle learning (Click here).

  2. Click here

    REPLACE THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY


    1. Replace the throttle with motor body assembly (Click here).

    2. Perform electronic throttle learning (Click here).


  3. Click here

    CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P2119)


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the tester on.

    4. Clear DTCs (Click here).

    5. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    7. Turn the tester on.

    8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.

    9. Read the DTCs.

      OK
      DTC is not output.
