Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR ASSEMBLY - ECM)


    1. Disconnect the A93 ECM connector.

    2. Disconnect the A36 accelerator pedal sensor assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A93-53 (VCPA) - A36-4 (VCPA) Always Below 1 Ω
      A93-51 (VPA) - A36-6 (VPA) Always Below 1 Ω
      A93-52 (EPA) - A36-5 (EPA) Always Below 1 Ω
      A93-56 (VCP2) - A36-1 (VCP2) Always Below 1 Ω
      A93-54 (VPA2) - A36-3 (VPA2) Always Below 1 Ω
      A93-55 (EPA2) - A36-2 (EPA2) Always Below 1 Ω
      A93-53 (VCPA) or A36-4 (VCPA) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A93-51 (VPA) or A36-6 (VPA) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A93-52 (EPA) or A36-5 (EPA) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A93-56 (VCP2) or A36-1 (VCP2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A93-54 (VPA2) or A36-3 (VPA2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
