CAUTION:

As weak radio waves are emitted from the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly, if a pacemaker is being used, be sure to read the pacemaker instruction manual and the following.

  • People with implantable cardiac pacemakers, cardiac resynchronization therapy-pacemakers or implantable cardioverter defibrillators should maintain a reasonable distance between themselves and the entry and start system antennas. The radio waves may affect the operation of such devices. If necessary, the entry function can be disabled. Ask your dealer for details, such as the frequency of radio waves and timing of the emitted radio waves. Then, consult your doctor to see if you should disable the entry function.

  • User of any electrical medical device other than implantable cardiac pacemakers, cardiac resynchronization therapy-pacemakers or implantable cardioverter defibrillators should consult the manufacturer of the device for information about its operation under the influence of radio waves. Radio waves could have unexpected effects on the operation of such medical devices.

  • Ask your dealer for details for disabling the entry function.

  1. PRECAUTION WHEN USING GTS

    1. When the power switch is off, the DTCs stored in the steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator or upper bracket assembly) are cleared. Be sure to record any output DTCs immediately.

    2. When using the GTS with the power switch off, connect the GTS to the DLC3 and turn a courtesy light switch on and off at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less until communication between the GTS and the vehicle begins. Then select Model Code "KEY REGIST" under manual mode and enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Entry&Start. While using the GTS, periodically turn a courtesy light switch on and off at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less to maintain communication between the GTS and the vehicle.

  2. PRECAUTION RELATED TO VEHICLE AUXILIARY BATTERY

    1. When the auxiliary battery is discharged, if the 12 V auxiliary battery of another vehicle is used to jump start the hybrid control system, push the P position switch (shift position indication) and open and close the driver door with the power switch off before starting the hybrid control system.

    2. After the auxiliary battery is removed and reinstalled, be sure to wait 10 seconds or more before the next hybrid control system start. The hybrid control system may not start immediately after the auxiliary battery is reinstalled.

      Tip:
      • After disconnecting and reconnecting the auxiliary battery cable, the hybrid control system may not start on the first attempt. If this occurs, turn the power switch off. The hybrid control system will start normally from the second time onward.

      • When the auxiliary battery cable is disconnected and reconnected, the power source mode returns to the mode it was in before the auxiliary battery cable was disconnected.

  3. PRECAUTION FOR REGISTRATION

    1. If replacing any of the following parts, refer to the Service Bulletin.

      1. Certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly)

      2. Steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator or upper bracket assembly)

      3. Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly

      4. Electrical key transmitter sub-assembly

      5. ID code box (immobiliser code ECU)

      6. Main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU)

  4. PRECAUTIONS FOR STEERING LOCK/UNLOCK FUNCTION

    1. After turning the power switch off and opening and closing any of the doors, the steering wheel will be locked due to the steering lock function. Operating the power switch again automatically cancels the steering lock function.

    2. To prevent the steering lock motor from overheating, the motor operation may be suspended if the steering is locked and unlocked repeatedly in a short period of time. In this case, refrain from operating the power switch. After about 10 seconds, the steering lock motor will resume functioning.

  5. DOOR CONTROL RECEIVER EXPRESSIONS

    1. The type of door control receiver used on this model differs depending on the specifications of the vehicles. The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section.
