DYNAMIC REAR STEERING ACTUATOR INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT REAR STEERING TIE ROD ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Inspect the turning torque of the ball joint.

        Secure the rear steering tie rod assembly LH in a vise between aluminum plates.

        Note

        Do not overtighten the vise.

      2. Install the nut to the rear steering tie rod assembly LH stud bolt.

      3. Move the stud bolt back and forth several times. Using a torque wrench, turn the stud continuously at a rate of 2 to 4 seconds per turn and check the turning torque on the 5th turn.

        Standard Turning Torque
        0.9 to 3.5 N*m (10 to 35 kgf*cm, 8 to 31 in.*lbf)

        If the turning torque is not within the specified range, replace the rear steering link assembly with a new one.

    2. Inspect the dust cover.


      1. Check that the dust cover is not cracked and that there is no grease on it.

        If the dust cover is cracked or there is grease on it, replace the rear steering link assembly with a new one.

  2. INSPECT REAR STEERING TIE ROD ASSEMBLY RH

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.
