  1. DESCRIPTION

    1. After replacing any VSC related components or performing wheel alignment adjustment, clear and read the sensor calibration data.

Refer to the table below and then perform the necessary operation according to the part to be replaced in order to perform calibration.

Part to be Replaced / Operation Necessary Operation

      • Skid control ECU assembly

      • Yaw rate sensor

      1. Clear zero point calibration data.

      2. Perform yaw rate sensor zero point calibration.

      Wheel alignment adjustment
      1. Clear zero point calibration data.

      2. Perform yaw rate sensor zero point calibration.

  2. OBTAIN ZERO POINT OF YAW RATE SENSOR

    Note:
    • While obtaining the zero point, keep the vehicle stationary and do not vibrate, tilt, move, or shake it.

    • Be sure to perform this procedure on a level surface (with an inclination of less than 0.25 degrees).

    • While obtaining the zero point, make sure the tire pressure is as specified and the vehicle is in full contact with the ground (not lifted up or loaded).

    Tip:

When entering Test Mode, the skid control ECU assembly communicates with the driving support ECU assembly to judge whether the vehicle is equipped with the pre-collision system. Therefore, do not exit Test Mode within 5 seconds of entering Test Mode.

    1. Clear the zero point calibration data.

      1. Turn the power switch on (IG).

      2. Check that the shift state is park (P).

      3. Check that the steering wheel is centered.

      4. Turn the power switch off.

      5. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

      6. Turn the power switch on (IG).

      7. Check that the parking brake is applied.

      8. Turn the GTS on.

      9. Select the skid control ECU assembly to clear the zero point calibration data using the GTS. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Utility / Reset Memory.

        1. Chassis > ABS/VSC/TRC > Utility
          Tester Display
          Reset Memory

      10. Turn the power switch off.

        Note:

If the power switch is turned on (IG) for more than 15 seconds with the shift state park (P) after the zero point of the yaw rate sensor has been cleared, only the zero point of the yaw rate sensor will be stored. If the vehicle is driven under these conditions, the skid control ECU assembly will store the zero point calibration for the acceleration sensor as not being completed. The skid control ECU assembly will then also indicate this as a malfunction of the VSC system using the indicator light.

    2. Perform zero point calibration of the yaw rate sensor.

      1. Turn the power switch off.

      2. Check that the shift state is park (P).

        Note:

DTCs C1210 (Zero Point Calibration of Yaw Rate Sensor Undone) and C1336 (Zero Point Calibration of Acceleration Sensor Undone) will be stored if the shift state is not park (P).

      3. Check that the steering wheel is centered.

      4. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

      5. Turn the power switch on (IG).

      6. Check that the parking brake is released.

      7. Turn the GTS on.

      8. Switch the skid control ECU assembly to Test Mode using the GTS. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Utility / Test Mode.

        1. Chassis > ABS/VSC/TRC > Utility
          Tester Display
          Test Mode

      9. After Test Mode has been entered, keep the vehicle stationary on a level surface for 4 seconds or more.

        Tip:
        • for Pre-collision System (for Mono Camera Type):

Do not exit Test Mode within 5 seconds of entering Test Mode. If Test Mode is exited within 5 seconds of entering Test Mode, DTC U1104 may be stored. If DTC U1104 is output after exiting Test Mode, enter Test Mode again, wait at least 5 seconds, then recheck for DTCs.

        • for Pre-collision System (for Stereo Camera Type):

Do not exit Test Mode within 5 seconds of entering Test Mode. If Test Mode is exited within 5 seconds of entering Test Mode, DTC U110487 may be stored. If DTC U110487 is output after exiting Test Mode, enter Test Mode again, wait at least 5 seconds, then recheck for DTCs.

      10. Check that the ABS warning, brake warning / yellow (minor malfunction) and slip indicator lights come on for several seconds and then blink in the Test Mode pattern.

        Tip:
        • If the ABS warning, brake warning / yellow (minor malfunction) and slip indicator lights do not blink, perform zero point calibration again.

        • Zero point calibration is performed only once after the system enters Test Mode.

        • Calibration cannot be performed again until the stored data is cleared.

      11. Turn the power switch off and disconnect the GTS.
