REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY(for 2WD) INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE

  1. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY

    Note

    • Do not damage the installation surface when installing the rear differential carrier assembly.

    • The remaining oil may leak out when installing the rear differential carrier assembly.

    • Securely support the rear differential carrier assembly while performing this step to avoid excessively tilting or dropping the rear differential carrier assembly.

    • Install the bolts with the rear differential carrier assembly secured.

    1. B004RY4C02
      *a Fulcrum Length

      Support the rear differential carrier assembly with a transmission jack.

      CAUTION:

      The rear differential carrier assembly is a heavy component. Make sure that it is supported securely.

    2. B004W4DC01
      *1 Rear Upper Differential Mount Stopper
      *2 Rear Lower Differential Mount Stopper
      B004SZX Upper of the Vehicle

      Install the 2 rear upper differential mount stoppers to the rear differential carrier assembly.

      Note

      Be careful of the rear surface of the rear differential upper mount stopper and rear differential lower mount stopper.

    3. Temporarily install the rear differential carrier assembly to the rear suspension member sub-assembly with the 2 rear lower differential mount stoppers and 2 new bolts (A).

    4. Using SSt and a 12 mm socket hexagon wrench, temporarily install the rear differential carrier assembly and rear differential dynamic damper to the rear suspension member sub-assembly with 2 new bolts (B).

      Tech Tips

      Before installing the bolts (B), make sure that there is no clearance between the rear differential carrier assembly and rear differential mount cushion.

    5. Using a 12 mm socket hexagon wrench, tighten the 2 bolts (B).

      Torque:
      Specified tightening torque
      103 N*m  { 1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Do not tilt the sleeve or deform the rubber of the mount when tightening the bolts (B).

      Tech Tips

      • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

      • When using SST (fulcrum length of 150 mm (5.906 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 400 mm (15.748 in.)): 74.9 N*m (764 kgf*cm, 55 ft.*lbf)

    6. Tighten the 2 bolts (A).

      Torque:
      88.9 N*m  { 907 kgf*cm, 66 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Do not tilt the sleeve or deform the rubber of the mount when tightening the bolts (A).
